Join Our Board: We're Growing
Summer Camp Project is building a Board of Directors to match the scope of our mission — connecting kids from under-resourced communities in the Seattle area with transformative summer camp experiences. We're proud to be joined by Sandy Lewandowski, who brings 50 years in education and 16 years as Superintendent of Intermediate District 287, where she championed trauma-informed, mental-health-centered approaches to supporting kids with the highest needs.
As we grow, we're actively recruiting for three board seats:
Treasurer / Finance
We're looking for a board member with financial expertise — accounting, audit, nonprofit finance, or related experience — to help guide our budgeting, financial oversight, and long-term fiscal health as we scale. This person will work closely with our leadership team to ensure strong financial stewardship and donor accountability.
Ideal background: CPA, controller, financial analyst, or similar; nonprofit board or treasurer experience a plus, but not required.
Secretary / Governance
We're looking for a board member to keep Summer Camp Project organized, compliant, and accountable as we grow. This person maintains meeting minutes and board records, helps ensure we're following our own bylaws, and brings a thoughtful eye to legal and governance best practices — from nonprofit compliance to board policy.
Ideal background: Legal, compliance, or nonprofit governance experience strongly preferred (e.g., attorney, paralegal, or governance professional); strong organizational skills and attention to detail are a must.
Development Chair
We're looking for a board member to lead our development strategy — both the relationships and resources that fuel our mission. This includes fundraising campaigns and donor relationships, as well as cultivating in-kind support, partnerships, and community connections, from camp scholarships to volunteer networks to community spaces.
Ideal background: Experience in development, donor relations, sales, partnerships, or nonprofit fundraising a plus, but not required; comfort with relationship-building and asking for support is key.
Interested in joining us?
We're looking for people who share our belief that every kid deserves the chance to experience summer camp, and who bring expertise, curiosity, and care to the table. If this sounds like you — or someone you know — reach out at hello@summercampproject.org.
